About

As a Scottish artist,  I draw inspiration from the diverse flora and fauna of our wild landscapes and the ancient folklore that is entwined within it.

The magic and playfulness of childhood adventures, running wild through the hills of the North West of Scotland has never left me. The creatures that ran alongside us, and the stories that we told remain in my heart & my dreams.

Perhaps that's why I paint, to share that wild, beautiful magic and keep it alive in the world.

Every piece is crafted and individually hand painted by me in my Edinburgh studio. I work primarily with acrylic & oil. Some canvas pieces are mixed media.

You can find my work on reclaimed oak whisky barrel wood,  live edge wood and cotton canvas.

I enjoy combining the rich heritage of the reclaimed whisky barrel wood with my art. It is a versatile material that I use to create wall art, ornaments,  bookmarks and earrings.

Live edge wood provides an organic and varied canvas to work with, from Cherry to Ash to Sycamore to Burr Elm. The colours and grains are all unique. I use the Scottish Wood sawmill in Fife for all of my live edge panels.

More recently I have begun working with cotton canvas.  I enjoy the freedom of movement that I have with different mediums, and the potential to offer prints as well as originals.

You can find a small selection of my work year round here, at gilllyonearrings.etsy.com and in The Leith Collective, Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh.

I sell in person at various events in Scotland between June & September.
